To summarize:
- There is an issue with the way ADB handles anyType. I reopened AXIS2-3797
which is related to the same issue.
- Support for <any> worked as expected.
- The remaining problem was related to an incorrect data format in the message
and there is no issue in Axis2.
Therefore, I'm closing this issue with resolution "Duplicate".
