Beta 3? (was: RE: cvs commit: xml-axis/java axis.properties build.xmlrelease-n otes.html)

I was hoping my commit would encourage someone to ask that!

I asked about another beta a couple times in the last couple weeks but didn't get any response. I think it's time we did one.

Who wants to be release manager? I'll do it again if no-one else wants the experience. But I'll be on vacation June 22-30. So if we want it out BEFORE then, we'd better lock it down quickly. Tackle bugzilla but don't add ANY new function.

Other thoughts?

Uh, don't we want that to say beta 3?
And speaking of that, should we start cutting B3?

    <p>This is a beta release.  Most of the functionality is there.  There is still a chance that a few interfaces may change, but we will do our best to keep that from happening.  See the User's Guide for a list of the published interfaces that we believe are stable.  This beta release is closer to JAX-RPC compliance than the alpha, but JAX-RPC is still a moving target, so those interfaces still have the potential to change.</p>
