I find emacs + psgml to be very easy to use for docbook editing.  I would
never willingly write html if I could use docbook.

Norman Walsh's xsl docbook stylesheets provide an easy to customize way of
making your online doc version look nice while providing also plain
versions for printing.  The JBoss free manual, although neglected for at
least a year, still provides a viewable example.
