James summarised our conversation accurately. I plan to drop proposals into their own directory: architecture documentation, code to show how the architecture could be implemented, and tests/samples.
Whether or how/when these proposals are adopted by the main code base, in evolutionary or revolutionary style, is up to the Axis community. On the basis that others will submit proposals, I'll put mine in subdirectories of xml-axis/proposals. Glyn
