Yes, it puts it in a 'axis-1_0' directory.
Run the target, you will see what it does, nothing fancy, just some copy commands.

I guess, more to the point is where can I get the binary dist? Can I
created it from my build tree, pop it somewhere else, and then test? Do I
do the "dist" target, and take the output from somewhere?

What exactly is the problem?

That the samples have build.xml files to build them and they use the top
level 'xmls' directory? If that is it, then yes, you just need to update
the correct target in the top level build file.

Okay, I'm going to try to fix this up today. I am assuming that I need to
simply put something in the dist target of build.xml?

None of the build files are in the binary distribution.
Matt, did something change so they need to be? If so you should update the
'dist' target.

I verified windows distribution & I did not see these
files as a part of axis binary distribution.

However, I did see these file in the source distribution
of axis.

I grabbed the files from the source distribution and
attempted to compile the stock sample. But I got:

java org.apache.tools.ant.Main build.xml
Buildfile: build.xml

BUILD FAILED
Target `build.xml' does not exist in this project.

Total time: 4 seconds

Am I missing something else? Should I file a bug?

Thx.

Harish
