+1 In a corporate development environment, the QA team would be the ones to confirm the fix and close out the bug. In the open-source world, you guys are part of our QA team :), so it's great if you can do it. Sending mail which says "yep, the problem is fixed for me" is adequate, closing the bug is even better. --Glen
