Transmission of images

We are developing a web service application use AXIS2. In addtion to
text information to be exchanged, we foresee the future need of
transmitting pictures (photos and images). It seems AXIS2 supports
several different ways of implementation. Is there a "best practice" for
image exchange (e.g. MTOM, SWA, etc.)? Thanks.
