I assume that there is no middle ground? Some way of getting the raw 
version provided by -d and the functions from the databinding? Or can I 
not have my cake and eat it too?

the WSDL by hand, and make it different from the actual WSDL, but that
seems kind of nasty, but I can do it if need be. Any other options?
