-write a q&d java main class which starts org.apache.catalina.startup.Embedded

another way is to (make sure you're not using the port before invoking Axis
standalone server)
IF %AXIS_HOME%\conf\axis2.xml
    <transportReceiver name="http"
                       class="org.apache.axis2.transport.http.SimpleHTTPServer">
        <parameter name="port" locked="false">8080</parameter>
do a netstat -a | grep 8080
if no processes listening on that port then run
%AXIS_HOME%/bin/axis2server

  Hakan,

  (Assuming you are talking about Axis2.) Embedding an HTTP Server like Jetty
(http://www.ebmwebsourcing.net/blog/page/christophehamerling/20070307?catname=%2FPEtALS)
 might be a better solution in terms of scalability.

  Hi,

  Are there any documentation on how to build a standan-alone SOAP server
  without using Tomcat or  JBOSS.

  Thanks

  Hakan
