It could be a firewall problem.

I have had random 'Connection reset by peer' socket errors when using an FTP
client to a Windows XP SP2 FTP server.

By disabling the Firewall product on the Windows XP SP2 machine, the problem
no longer occured.

You need to experiment, disable the Windows XP firewall product ( I am
assuming you are using this product ) and see if it works.

Hi all,

I did other set of tests and I changed the host. Actually, I am thinking
that the problem is a firewall that I have in one of the hosts; I though
that HTTP and consequently SOAP connections do not be afected by
firewalls... Am I wrong?

TIA,
Daniela

How can I test SOAP connections without using AXIS, only to test the network
latency?

Try the Java clone of ApacheBench - Source
<http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/jakarta/httpcomponents/httpcore/trunk/contr
ib/src/main/java/org/apache/http/contrib/benchmark/> from Jakarta HttpCore
or the Binary <https://www-lk.wso2.com/~asankha/benchmark/>
