Hi. I am currently maintaining an application in Java that will interact with another system written in C. Access to the other system is through WEB services using the gSOAP (2.7.12) engine. On the Java side, Axis is used (Axis (version V1.2) is used, not Axis2).
There is a requirement that a checksum must be used for each message that is exchanged with the gSOAP side, to verify the contents of the message. On the gSOAP side there is an option of including a number of plugins, to extend to capability of this SOAP engine. The HTTP MD5 Plug-in for gSOAP can be used. On the AXIS side, I've been looking for a similar mechanism. I hoped that the AXIS framework could be used to automatically generate and include an MD5 checksum for the SOAP messages. So far I have not seen that a similar mechanism is available, neither in Axis nor Axis2. Checksums are needed both at the Axis client- and server sides. I know that there are "heavier" schemes available, involving SSL, HTTPS, certificates and so on, but that is far beyond the need in this case. What is needed is a "light-weight" solution, with checksums, as indicated above. Any help in the above matter would be greatly appreciated.
