I've noticed a few posts that says you should also have them in
tomcat/common/lib. Mine are there and it is working, but I never tested it
without having them there. Seems to make sense that they should be there
though, otherwise they won't be seen by tomcat. (me thinks)

When I access axis with browser, I can turn on and
turn off the axis server ...
The server is definitely turned on and I still get the
connection refusal

Note that I am having other problems that are probably
clues to something misconfigured.
When I run the calculator demo, the value returned is
null. The client is connecting
to the service but is not able to parse the returned
value???

Is this another matter of not having the axis.jar and
relevant jar files in the
improper location. The userguide says to put them in
webapps/axis/WEB-INF/lib

Thanks ... John
