Yes Mark.  In fact, I've tried searching IBM's UDDI
registries and though it got a quite long list but
seems a testing/dumping/advertising ground. 
 
My understanding is that a public UDDI should support
a consuming client to (re)discover-bind-invoke the web
services published, is it correct?

But the xmethod site does give me a feel of real web
services can do. still helpful.
