it is available through the MessageContext - I think you can use mc.getProperty(MC_HTTP_SERVLETREQUEST) take a look at other available properties of the underlying servlet in org.apache.axis.transport.http.HTTPConstants - those prefixed with MC_ are set in the MessageContext.
