GLUE can also run as a standalone server - I use it client-side for call-backs from AXIS and it works very well. http://www.themindelectric.com/glue/index.html
When I looked at using jetty with AXIS I couldn't find any easy doco on how to do this - if you or anyone gets this working maybe you could write up a simple HOWTO?
