We are embarking on a short project to validate Axis performance within a particular web service client application. I've seen a few recent posts that refer to timing data for web service calls. How are folks getting timing information? Are you using a third-party tool like JProbe? Relying on homegrown time-logging approaches? Simply logging call and return times?
At this point, I'm not as interested in what elements of Axis are causing the greatest performance issues. Axis can be considered to be a 'black box' for the purposes of my testing. I'm also not interested in axis server-side performance, just client, because: - another vendor we interact with will be running the service (and they're not using axis), - I can test against their service under real network conditions for the test.
