Please submit a bug report with the test case that can be used to recreate the problem. BUT before that try upgrading to 1.1 Axis and/or latest CVS to see if the problem still exists. (http://ws.apache.org/axis/bugs.html)

I did not know the release was finally out and the bug is fixed in there thx. If only I had known - could have saved me a day ... oh stupid me.
I am so used to auto-upgrades by debian that I keep forgetting to upgrade anything else.
