Have you tried Axis 1.2RC2 (released on Nov 17 I think), or even a nightly build? This looks like an Axis bug and I would be surprised if it's not already fixed.
You can look for a similar bug or file one if there isn't one already.
Tried both. Doesn't help. Here are people with similar problems. Also not resolved.
