In the XML PMC (Project Management Committee) we're being asked to vote on re-organising the XML project @ apache. What that implies for AxKit is that we become effectively a top level project with a loose affiliation to the XML project. You can read the full proposal here:

Kip and I (as the AxKit PMC members) have discussed this offline a bit and we've decided to vote +1 on this with the corollary that we might as well just go whole hog and become a full top level project as at that point the XML PMC isn't buying us anything.
If anyone has any serious objections to this direction please voice them now (and quickly as we have to vote soon).
