Hi Gerardo,

> I followed this thread about vdms with interest. Is sounds as a great
idea.

I hope so.

> Have you taken a look to libferris [http://witme.sourceforge.net]?

No, I had not, but now I have ;-).

I looks like a very interesting system, and yes, we share a lot of
visions. I'd love to try it personally - when time allows.

However, I'm afraid it's not terribly interesting for VDMS - at least
not presently. Some of the reasons:

* We're designing VDMS for business customers, so support for Windows
and Netware servers are an absolute, unnegotiable must.

* libferris runs in user space - we want something that runs in system
space. When somebody adds additional RDF information, that information
should be shared with the entire organization, not kept personal.

* The intent is to create a system build as a series of components
running as webservices. These building blocks can be added on top of
existing systems, without interfering with the system beneath. Should
the customer decide that they don't like VDMS, it can be removed and
business can continue as usual. It's a bit difficult for me to see how
libferris fits into this picture.

But if we turn it upside down, I agree with you that libferris can
offer a lot of the same benefits to a single user as we hope to do with
VDMS on a corporate level.

Regards,
Lars
