I think I found the problem, perl was compiled with useshrplib=false, but there was a libperl.so in CORE. I suppose from a previous compile. Anyway, recompiling perl with useshrplib=true took care of the segfaults. Now I'm happy again :) If you would like to see a stacktrace I can generate one later today, for reasons that I could only have explained late last night I seem to have deleted the one I had.
