is pdfxmltex on the PATH for the anonymous user who runs AxKit? my local
copy says
AxKit::Debug(8, "About to shell out to pdfxmltex - hope you have passivetex
installed...");
my $retval = system("VARTEXMF=/home/rahtz/texmf.var
PATH=/texlive/Master/bin/i386-linux:\$PATH pdfxmltex temp.fo");
to be on the safe side
