I just commited a major step to true charset encoding transparency, the new
AxExternalEncoding option. It will be part of the next 1.6-rc tarball that
Matt will surely do tomorrow or so.
It works great for me, but is largely untested. I would appreciate reports
about two things:
1) If you don't use it, nothing about charset handling should change at all
2) If you use it, it should reliably map <your-favourite-charset> to UTF8
- from the Filesystem (use the new AxHandleDirs option)
- from URIs (and it should grok UTF-8 URIs in addition, autodetecting)
If this works, we only have very few holes left where non-UTF8 data enters
AxKitSpace, and I am after those as well :-)
