Hi,

I'm the maintainer of the Debian package of AxKit.  Yes, you can install
and use AxKit with just Debian packages, but I'm running unstable so it
"always" works for me.  I don't know what you're currently running, but
I would suggest to start with the version in woody.  If that doesn't
work for you, you can consider to upgrade only Axkit and what it needs
to what's in testing.  Let me know how things go and don't hesitate to
file bug reports.
