One quick note: there's a minor buglet that can cause some grief:
currently AxKit's A::A::Provider::File does not forward a request for a
directory with no trailing slash to a URL with the trailing slash.  I
keep meaning to go fix it but haven't yet.  This needs to be fixed
before any real release; serving directory pages without the trailing
slash leads to way too many broken links on the pages and wierd URL math
being done by the browsers.

Just be careful not to assume a trailing slash in the URL for the
absolute links you generate on such a page and they should be ok; a
leading "./" on relative links might work.
