Thoughts:
- it's still not clear why it should generate code that doesn't compile in this case. (Why doesn't it generate code that does nothing at all? Of course that wouldn't be much better.)

Consider it a bug (or maybe a feature).

It can probably be clear immediately. It's just a "do the easiest thing that will work" bug. Now we need to make it work better, clearly.


Many times I've wanted to fix this too, but the path of least resistance is to fix my XSP taglib instead, so that's what happens.
