It did appear that libxslt was upgraded to 1.0.30, so I rebuilt 
XML-LibXML-1.54_3 and XML-LibXSLT-1.53, and then restarted the
Apache server.  It didn't make any noticable difference in the 
performance for the 900k xml file transformation.
