I'm sorry, but your suggestion sounds like a maintenance nightmare in
creating and updating symlinks, plus reduced flexibility, since i can't
automatically fall back to other stylesheets, but have to make sure that
I symlink to the appropriate fallback stylesheet. 

I prefer to have programatic resolution of alternate paths, i.e. one set
of rules in one place, vs. hardcoded resolution and the accompanying
maintenance.
