Hi all,
Seems we have a steady flow of bugs coming in from people that can't
find their apps despite typing sensible strings into the search box. Fx.
"internet" does not find Firefox and "music" does not find Banshee.
Example bugs:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-lens-applications/+bug/833610
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/810412
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=609702
There are all sorts of fancy and "correct" ways we can solve this, but
an efficient and pragmatic way, that is still very useful involves
simply making sure that we have a truckload of good X-GNOME-Keywords
fields in all .desktop files.
As it stands this metadata is *very* scarce. Fortunately it's very easy
to fix - but just big scope wise. How about we go on a promo tour to
help breed some movement across the apps community?
This sounds like an awesome idea. Does the ubuntu community team have a
unity person again? I know they were hiring. That person would be
ideal to drive this.
