I think certain status indicators (set from FUSA) are supposed to disable non-critical notifications. Else, GNOME has an applet to inhibit the computer from suspending; adding an option there (or as a new similar applet) to disable notifications could be an option too. -- Siegfried-Angel Gevatter Pujals (RainCT) Ubuntu Developer.
