I thought the current implementation is something in the lines of: 1) app receives message -> adds indicator 2a) indicator is clicked -> removes indicator, opens message 2b) message opened via other means -> removes indicator So it would be just a matter of making (2b) into a no-op if the indicator was previous removed by the clear button.
