How is it publishing, at all? i am not distributing content, or
printing, or putting it on a public place to be viewed. I am storing
it, or saving it, or backing it up, or Syncing it. But not publishing.
It's publishing because it creates a public short URL that can be shared
with others, put in microblogging updates, etc. So you are in fact
putting it in a public place to be viewed. After a file has been
'publish' via Ubuntu One, the menu item changes to 'Stop publishing via
Ubuntu One' and a very useful 'Copy Ubuntu One public URL' shows up.
It's a very nice feature, and one that hasn't received nearly enough
publicity.
