Even without any morphing animation, the interface elements inside the
alert window could all be removed, and replaced by the elements that
have, up till now, been displayed in the separate progress window.

The contents of the document.

(Sheet-style dialogs have a similar problem: they unmovably cover
information that you sometimes need for making decisions in the dialog.)
