Cheri,
Thank you for the information. I do not believe there are any other portuguese
in my area of Texas aside from myself. Shoot, you can't even buy linquisa here,
no one has even heard of it before.
So my next question is, How would I get a list of the portuguese films to
request the local church obtain them?

Lisa, I'm starting this over in its own thread.Lisa said:"Cheri,Where would I
find such a center? Are they affiliated with/ or contained ONLY in the Mormon
churches of larger cities? I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this matter.
And if these centers where the films are kept ARE only in the churches, must
you be a member of the Mormon Church? If so I hope they will allow me to use my
Mom's membership.Thank you"You could check the phone book of the city you are
moving to (Yellow Pages - Churches - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints). Or you could look it up online here:
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.aspYes, the Family
History Centers (FHC) are affiliated only with the LDS churches. It is part of
their belief that family is eternal and in order to be reunited as one big
family in the afterlife, one must be able to identify all their ancestors and
know who they are. I'm not LDS, but that the gist of it in a nutshell (LDS
members may explain it better to you). Anyways, MOST people using the FHCs are
non-LDS members. They are open to the public (during their posted hours). The
film you need may not be there if you live in a non-Portuguese area, but can be
ordered and eventually kept there permanently for a renewal fee. I don't
remember how much the ordering fee is ($5-6??) and the renewal fee is near that
price. I think the initial order plus two renewals keeps it there
permanently. The North Dartmouth FHC has all the film of all 9 Azorean islands.
Oakland, CA has a lot of film for the Azores too.-- Cheri MelloListowner,
