Dear Listers: Based on your help with the names and churches where Jose da Silva went to make his Easter Duty, one of the churches was in Lisbon, Igresia das Chagas.
I knew that Jose was a maitimo and was pleasantly surprised when I went to the websites and found that the Church of Chagras in Lisbon was frequented by mariners and to quote a website: " was inaugurated by the maritime of India's carrier in 1542." So maybe it was a place he was familiar with because of his profession? It helps to just get an idea of what was important to the ancestors, and imagine why he would have gone to that church. Feels like one could get to know a little bit about him, like putting flesh on the bones of these ancestors who lived so long ago. Thanks so much for your help, Warm regards, Maria Elena --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Follow the confirmation directions when they arrive.
