I Know! The name is just simply strange. I never thought that he could be a baker, before whaling! That's a great idea! Tanks! I don't know his real name because in the records my grandfather was baptized with parents " Desconhecidos" and he was raised by a couple in Rosais, that adopted him, but there is no record of this ( this is what my father remembers, is dad died, when he was 8 years old) But my dad remembers visiting his grandfather. And this man had a Lot of Kids!!!!!! I mean a lot…like 20 or more spread around the islands. I guess that the only way by finding his real name is to talk to an old whaler that wrote, also, about this João pão quente, in His Book, Memoirs of a whaler. And yes, in the book...he does not mention his real name, just joão pão quente By the way, the book is wonderful. Do you know it?
