Unless the grave has been paid on continuously by your family since 1919, it was probably reused. I believe they are reinterred in a common grave. Islands just don't have the space so they reuse the graves out of necessity (which probably seems very odd to Americans!) The article link that I gave above explains how the division of records service works. The archives/biblioteca holds all records that exist up to 100 years ago. The Civil Registry holds records of the last 100 years. They usually send the books over around every 5 years, or when the Civil Registry needs room. So, if all Civil Registries sent books to their respective archive in 2005, the archives will hold the records from the beginning to 1905. The Civil Registry will have from 1906-present. Unless the Civil Registry sent more. In 2010, the Civ. Reg. should send over from 1906-1910. You get a response by writing to the Civil Registry above.
