The year is 1790 and "de tarde" means "in the afternoon". Many records state if
the marriage was in the morning on in the afternoon

Dear Cheri:

Thanks for asking about the rest of the sentence.  Here's my question:

I cannot read for sure if he was married in 1790 or 1798 or something else. The
words "de tarde" could be something else maybe part of a number.

The reason I keep wanting it to be more like 1798 is because his first child is
born in March 1798 and then 1801 and other children being born  up to 1808.  If
he was married in 1790,  then, that would mean he didn't have their first child
until 8 years after they were married and that sounds very unsual.  Doesn't it?

I don't know what was happening in Sao Miguel in those years, military, or
natural disasters, whatever.

Thanks for taking a look at it.

Regards,

Maria Elena

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] phrase in marriage certificate

Hi,

I've seen the phrase "de tarde" in a couple of marriage certificates.  What
significance does this have?
