An interesting book about the Dabney's life in Faial - "On the Edge of History" by Joseph C.Abdo. I got mine from Amazon. My great grandfather left Horta, Faial when he was 14 years old and came to Boston on one of the Dabney's ships, the IO. When I first read this book, I had a strong feeling that it would lead me to something about my g. grandfather. That proved true finally last winter.
