I've been looking at birth records for Norte Grande on the Centro de
Conhecimento site and this is the second record I have come across
with the godparents listed as (his name) e sua consorte (her name).
This is from 1883.

Is this another way of saying they are married or does it actually
mean that they are not married but living together? Or does it have
another meaning?

This isn't a record for anyone I'm looking for, I am just curious
about the use of the word.
