Shirley,

Nothing gets by you! Good catch. Yes, that is my uncle, Al. I got
word from my sister last night. I hadn't seen much of him for a while
but I remember him well when I was growing up in Somerville, MA. My mom
had 2 brothers (Al and Manny) and 6 sisters, all of which were first
generation Americans of Azorian immigrants (Manual and Mary) who came to
the U.S. in the early 1900's, met and were married in Cambridge, MA
around 1912. Al was the oldest. Both brothers have now passed, but all
of the sisters are still kicking. My mom, Hilda, will be 88 in March.
There is longevity in that Azorean blood!

Thanks for thinking of me and sending the link.

Herald News site, let me know and I'll copy and send the obituary to
you. <http://www.heraldnews.com>

  Shirley,

I have a Manuel Josito Menezes born at Ribeiro Grand, San Miguel on
March 20, 1888. I actually go back one more generation with the
marriage record of Manuel's father (Jancintho ?) to a Pierra but can't
lay my hands on the record at the moment.

I'd love to find a connection.

We might be related.

Kay,

My Mom is a Menezes and I have traced the Menezes Family back to the
Azores (San Miquel, Ribera Grande)). My Great-Grand-Parents
(Menezes/Pierera) were married in the 1880's. My grandparents
(Menezes/Santos) both immagrated to the U.S. (Cambridge, MA) in the
1900's and settled in Arlington, MA. Their family grew to 9 children
(2 sons and 7 daughters) and all but one are still alive and living
in various parts of Massachusetts.

I'd be interested in learning of anyone else with a Menezes lineage.

Paul
