There were a number of early ones in New Bedford and Fall River , but I do not know if any of the records survived. Monte Pio may, since it was still in existence as of a few years ago. I have one such collection in the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese American A rchives - the Associac ao Benificente Alianca Portuguesa of Fall River, which may have had New Bedford residents as members, but the dates are 1924-1999. Id be happy to look up any names that fall within that period.

Jose Benevolente Protectora e Caridade, Fall River (1888-1930s) Real Associacao Autonomica Micalense de M assachusetts, New Bedford (1895-1936) Fraternidade Portuguesa, New Bedford (1897-?)
