Manuel F. Dutra died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at his Watsonville home. He was 82. A native of Faial, Azores, Mr. Dutra lived in Watsonville since 1967. He retired from the Mount Madonna Apple Co. and was a member of St. Patrick's Church. He grew an extensive vegetable garden at his home and enjoyed taking trips to gamble in Reno and Las Vegas. Mr. Dutra is survived by his wife, Maria Dutra of Watsonville; two sons, Manuel Jr. of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Gilbert Dutra of Fort Bragg; two daughters, Maria Idalina Sousa of Twin Falls and Mary Lou Santos of Watsonville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place today from 5-9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Mehl's Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
