DA SILVEIRA, Jose Dias - Passed away, on Thursday March 5, 2009, in his 81st year, with his family by his side. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Maria and his children, Mary Joe (Tony), Berta (Larry), Jose (Flora) and Elizabete. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Catarina, Mandie, Lindsay- Anne, John and Zachary. Jose was born in Ponta Delgada, Flores, Acores in 1928 and arrived in Canada in February of 1966. He was the eldest of 10 children. Jose was a certified carpenter; a lover of soccer (Benfica) and politics. Above all else, he took great pride in the fact that he immigrated to Canada to provide opportunities for his children. That hope served him well. He was very proud of his children's accomplishments. Jose will be missed by many family members and friends who often visited him. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home , 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends today (Saturday) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited in the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima R.C.
