Hi, I'm new to this group and new to genealogy. My cousin and I have been spent hours with living family & have contacted family church in USA. Here's what we have found. Note spellings/dates at times are inconsistent.
Our grandpa is: John/Jorge/Jao (depending on who tells us) Victoria from Espirito Santa/Vila Nova in Terceira According to records birth date: 15 Nov 1887/1888 (Terciera, Azores) date of death: 23 April 1966 (Stratford, California - USA) Our grandmother is: Francisca/Fracisca/Frances (depending on who tells us) Mendes from Sao Jorge (Doze Ribeiras) According to records birth date: 1894 date of death (12 Nov 1970) Our maternal grandparents are: Francia Souza Mendes and Cansicas Roza Mendes No birth/marital/dates of death available. The family came from the Azores to the East Coast. Then transitioned from the East Coast through San Francisco and settled in the San Joaquin Valley in a very small town called Stratford, California. The family church is in Lemoore California about 20 miles away. Is it possible to learn any more about our family? We would love to visit the Azores next year. It would greatly enhance our experience if we could learn more.
