I have Herminia's in my tree and they are female first names. Most seemed
to go by "Minnie"

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] The name Herminia and the Neps.ics site

Hi Pat,

Thank you for the link,

http://www.neps.ics.uminho.pt

I have not been online much due to family illness/death but I had a look at
this site after reading your post. Astonishing what I found. Previously I
had never been able to find anyone I was looking for on that site.

My question is this. Who inputs the information on that site? How accurate
have you found the information to be? Does the information come from actual
records? The reason I ask is I cannot read Portuguese so I don't know where
the information is coming from. I would kind of like to know before I take
what my families history comes across as gospel.

Also does anyone know if the name Herminia is a surname or a woman's first
name ( as in Maria or Julia) in Portuguese.

Thank you so much for your help.

Regards,

Laura
