I read the book before and during a month-long stay on Sao Jorge in May, and as a journalist and amateur historian found the book most helpful. The clear, brisk writing, the history and the documented nuances of Azorean life greatly expanded my understanding of a beautiful, welcoming place and people. Thank you.
