Please excuse me for not posting to the thread on this Cheri.....I cannot
figure out my google information and spent a few minutes trying to figure out
my password etc......that will be a project in itself with time that I
don't have today!!

Celeste.....wish I was there with you as we ALL do I am sure!!! You know,
at this point, what I would do is try to just definitely put this to
rest......meaning know that you did ALL that you can to look for her baptism in
this parish. I think I told you before what I do when searching for children
for a couple.......I make a little timeline "Pregnancy chart".......I put
down all the known births/baptisms....and then cross out the months that I know
another child would not be born (the eight months after the birth of the
last child).....THEN I look through EVERY single baptism. I don't know the
format of that particular baptism book but you must be used to it by
now...some are easier than others. I just go through and key in on the names
of the
parents.....at least you have a wonderful mother's name....Jacintha
LIBIANA....unless that is a popular regional name it should stick out in the
crowd.
I think you need to do this to make sure that you are not missing
her.....maybe for some reason she was not baptized with the name Maria....I
would not
expect that, but I would do it just to make sure there was NO other birth.
Now on her being too old to have been that last sister.....born in
1873.....she could have been a "young" 48 years old in 1921 when she had that
son........that would be very RARE......but who knows....maybe it would be
possible??? I know in my research I have found one mother that was pretty
old......I can't remember now, but maybe 46 or 47. When was the last child
that she
had in her family born before that last son? Just curious as it does not
really matter.....my grandma used to always talk about those "change of life"
babies....the ones that come along after the others by surprise. Now with
women delaying pregancy for careers etc...there are LOTS OF those change of
life babies!

I think that if you do this.....then you yourself will know that you did
ALL that you can do.

Write and tell us or me about your trip when you have time!
BOA SORTE!!!

I am desperate for any additional ideas as to where I might search for my
husband`s paternal grandmother, Maria Cristo Morais.

She told her daughter she was born in 1885 (anywhere from 1884-1887 on
census in US).
and that she was 5 years old when her father, Joao Morais, died in 1899.
Her mother Jacintha Libiana would have been too old to have had her as a
child. This led me to the possibility that she was the daughter of one of her
older siblings, both Marias born in 1868 and 1873. Neither could have been
Maria Cristo since her youngest son was born in 1921 in RI.
