Hi Frances, I'm wondering if we could be related. I think we have discussed this before, but I still wonder. My grandfather, Manuel Silveira Azevedo, was born in 1862 in the village Faja dos Cubres. You might want to search CCA to find if your relatives come from Faja dos ubres. I think you once talked to my cousin Jane Azevedo in the SSN office, yes? Perhaps there's a connection between us, because there are Pereiras and Teixeiras back in my line, too. Guida

I was able to get copies of marriage's and births. >From my grandfathers side: Jorge Joseph Pereira Azevedo and Marianna Joaquina Silveira were from Sao Jorge. They had 6 sons and 1 daughter. I cannot find the town they were from. Most had settled in Marin County CA by 1860. I know Marianna was there but Jorge may have died in Sao Jorge. Most are buried in the cemetary on the hill outside of Sausalito. >From my grandmothers side: Joseph Oliveira and Contancia de Azevedo married in Sao Jorge and went to Honolulu. My grandmother was the oldest of several children. She was born in Honolulu in 1882. At the age of 5 the family moved to Sausalito where her father worked for the city street dept. Contancia's sister married a Teixeira. They are buried in the same Sausalito cemetary. My question is how do I find the town they were originally from on Sao Jorge? I've hit a brick wall on both families. By the way I remember hearing as a child that the Azevedo families were not related. But perhaps they are.
