The church I visited on my quest to document Maria Cristo Moraes was the child
of Joao de Moraes/Joao Costa de Moraes/Joao Costa de Moraes and Jacintha
Libiana was in Lomba da Santa Barbara which is in the concelho/county of
Ribeira Grande.

The day I was there, the priest (only been there a year and I was told did not
know anything about the church) was not there.  This is why I visited with both
the "lady who took care of the church" and the "man who helped the priest."
Neither knew about any confession rolls.

In Ribeira Grande I went to the Finance office to see if Joao's death, whose
death date I found, had generated any taxes that might have named his
children.  I did not think he had any property or anything that would
necessitate taxes; however, I wanted to check that out.  I found no evidence of
taxes having been paid.

The Catarina I met each morning was Catherina Balbino and she lives in Ponta
Delgada and also works there.
